We talk about the adjustment of moving from rural, upstate New York to the busy desert life of Arizona. We talk about the differences between working at a wind turbine startup and starting up a new Amphenol facility. And we talk having the job he always wanted but never knew he wanted. We talk about the ever-changing technology improvements in printed circuit boards that place a premium on his team to be at the forefront of design. A conversation with Mark Joseph, Business Development Manager for the Amphenol Military and Aerospace Group. Mark is based out of New Jersey and has been with Amphenol for over a year. He and I mainly talk all things Navy as we exhibited at the AFCEA West Navy Show in San Diego, CA this week. We talk about his work in trying to increase Amphenol's share in the Navy market. We talk about how some of his former jobs, specifically at one of our competitors and at one of our biggest customers, made him appreciate the importance of interconnects when designing major weapons systems. We talk about the major differences between the military world and the commercial world and he confesses that, even though he has great respect for the Navy, he does not want to stay overnight on a Naval ship anytime soon. We talk about the challenges of leading a global operations team where the majority of the manufacturing is not in Nashua and how different it is from his previous work at Amphenol Aerospace. We talk about his tremendous work in Sidney after the floods in 2006 and 2011 including being the program manager for the new Amphenol Aerospace facility. We talk about the vast differences between working in the defense and aerospace markets versus the commercial markets and we discuss how he's combating the Coronavirus effect on his operations in China. We talk about the challenges of leading his small team in the first couple years and about finding an early adopters in one of his ideas with Teradyne. We discuss his courtship with Amphenol leading up to being acquired and how he's now utilizing the power of Amphenol to open new doors for the company. And finally, we discuss why he named the company Ardent Concepts. This is The Interface.
